Bobby Mahoney & the Seventh Son Announces New Self-Titled Album Set To Release March 23, 2018

Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son

East Brunswick, NJ – March 6, 2018 – New Jersey alt-punk rockers, Bobby Mahoney & the Seventh Son have announced the release of their self-titled album, due out March 23, 2018. The band released a video late last year for the album’s first single “Empty Passenger Seats,” which is available to watch HERE.

On the record, lead vocalist, Bobby Mahoney shares, “We went into the studio last summer with a handful of new songs, and some new ideas for a few older tunes, with the goal of capturing a clear example of what we do as a band. I wanted the songs to speak for themselves, and to convey our live energy, and I think we were successful. We loved writing and playing these songs, and I think you can hear that on the record.”

Founded in 2010 under just the name “Seventh Son,” the band was originally intended for a single show, but they quickly caught on locally and began playing the New Jersey rock circuit. After the release of their first EP and undergoing some lineup changes, the band rebranded as Bobby Mahoney & the Seventh Son in 2014. Since then, the band has released three full-length studio albums, and have shared the stage with notable bands such as The Gaslight Anthem, Pity Sex and Pianos Become the Teeth.

Bobby Mahoney & the Seventh Son is set to release on March 23, 2018. For more information, please visit

Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son Release Timeless “Empty Passenger Seats”

This track is “New Jersey” in the truest ways. It’s got a Springsteeny, Gaslight Anthemy vibe, with heart and soul well beyond Mahoney’s years and a guitar riff that’s just an all-out mother fucking rocker. “Empty Passenger Seats” has that indescribable timeless quality to it that just makes it feel like an instant classic, that has a vintage feel without being dated.

There’s an unbelievable amount of energy in Mahoney’s music. This is the type of jam you play air guitar to. Shamelessly. Like whether or not people are staring. Fuck it. You can be a rock star too. Just like Bobby Mahoney. You get in your wide stance, strum your cords, bang your head, throw a badass kick when the chorus hits so everybody knows what’s up. That’s what this tune’s about. Head banging, high kicking, speeding down the fucking highway with an empty passenger seat, being twenty-two years old and euphoria of your life not being over yet.

Stream: Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son – “Empty Passenger Seats”
‘Empty Passenger Seats’ started as a riff/jam with my friend Dan Cohen (Creating Clementine, Hero of Me), and then I brought it to the band and we shaped it and arranged it together in a hotel room near Pittsburgh. John Shepherd whistled that little guitar lick in the chorus, and recording that bit was one of my favorite parts of the process for these new songs. We drove over night home from Richmond at the end of last summer’s tour, and that experience became the lyrics for the bridge. This song feels like the band’s current journey in a way, and it is just a lot of fun to play. It’s loud and it kicks you in the ass. This is the first of a bunch of new singles we will be releasing and it’s just the tip of the iceberg. We had a great time working with Frank Marra (Brian Fallon, Jared Hart, Dead Swords, many more) at North End Recording and we can’t wait to keep releasing the new songs.”
