As for "Outskirts," the punk-fueled rant "Running Away" stands out with its searing guitars and a staccato boom that is likely to get the crowd at both shows pumping its collective fist. The Southern rock-inspired jam that breaks up the punk angst of ".38 Special" also is a lot of fun. I also like "Jackie Was a Renegade," which fuses the Americana of a young John Mellencamp with the roots-rocking snarl of Social Distortion.
